Banking, but better at St. Joe's Credit Union

Who knew?

When commercial banks were winding down their bank branches all over Ireland, employees at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports are experiencing a banking renaissance.

Opening hours – from 8:15am…can you believe it?

Counter service – Yes, they do this too!

Online banking – Yep! You can access your account details, make payments and transfer money night and day!

Current accounts – Yes you can have one!

Free Life insurance – FREE, can you believe it?

Cash transactions - Yes, still and option.

St. Joseph’s credit union is a real little gem when it comes to providing a service and the best part is it is owned by its members.

We were founded in 1962. Our original goal was to make credit available to those in the community that were being denied by larger lenders at the time” says CEO Edel Bourke.

Today, we continue to serve the needs of our customers through face-to-face service, longer opening hours and online banking” said Ms. Bourke, who has been leading the charge to modernising the credit union. St. Joseph’s Irish Airports & Aviation Credit Union operates a branch network at Ireland’s largest airports; Dublin, Shannon and Cork.

Innovating to dispel some old myths

St. Joseph’s Credit Union has been an innovator from inception when it was the first to launch its Budget Money Management Scheme for members. This unique service manages member’s monthly bills and pays them when due.

The credit union approves loans on member’s ability to repay, not on how much they have in their savings.

Members can join St. Joseph’s as long as they are employed in any one of the three main airports and they do not have to close other credit union accounts if they join St. Joseph’s.

Our members love the service we provide. But we definitely need to do more to get our message out. We are open for business, we are open for loans, we are open longer offering a face-to-face service and we offer banking but better to all our members” said Ms. Bourke.

St. Joseph’s Credit Union, that’s it, a real little gem when it comes to banking today.
